What are plastic Comfy Chairs made of?
The Comfy Chairs are made from HDPE (high-density polyethylene). This plastic has a high density and is UV-resistant. The material does not absorb water and is extremely strong.
Comfy Chairs can withstand all weather conditions and easily handle large temperature fluctuations. It’s no coincidence that many street furniture, outdoor toys, and even pond liners are made from HDPE. Thanks to the solid material, the Comfy Chairs are virtually indestructible. For this reason, we regularly sell them to beach clubs, hospitality venues, and holiday parks.
The lifespan of HDPE can be as long as 150 years. So Comfy Chairs made of plastic can certainly last for decades. After a long life, the material is also very recyclable. This is because the plastic can be remelted and reused.
The material of the plastic Comfy Chairs consists of 20% recycled material. With this ratio, we can achieve good colour fastness. With a higher percentage of recycled plastic, colour fastness becomes less certain. However, we do follow all developments within the plastics industry with great interest. It is expected that recycling such plastics will yield a better reusable product in the future. As a result, we hope to use more recycled materials in the future, while maintaining quality.
Of course, one of the biggest advantages of plastic is that it requires little maintenance. Whereas you need to give wooden Comfy Chairs an occasional service, this is not necessary with the plastic furniture. All you need to do is give the chairs a quick clean when they get dirty. This happens, for example, after winter; green deposits often appear on the chairs. A soft brush and some soapy water will have them clean in no time.
Our plastic furniture is available in 11 different colours of plastic. Which colour you choose obviously depends on taste. But, another tip: also consider that dark colours of plastic heat up faster in the sun. So a black Comfy Chair heats up faster than a white one. Will your chair or lounger be right in the sun? Then this might be a good thing to consider in your choice of colour. Also good to know: the material is coloured ‘through and through’. That is: the entire solid board is coloured, not just a layer on the surface. This benefits the colourfastness.
