The wood
Red cedar from Canada
The Comfy Chair adirondack furniture made of wood is made of red cedar. The wood comes from Canada, from the forests of Vancouver. In Canada, forest management and responsible logging are high on the list of priorities. And for good reason: about 9% of all forests worldwide are found in this country. The wooden slats the Comfy Chairs are cut from whole planks. This gives a beautiful, natural result. You can see the naturally occurring flaming in the slats. This also means that colour differences between the slats are possible. This is part of the natural material; every Comfy Chair is 100% unique. Over time, as the furniture ages, this effect diminishes.
The production process
- In Vancouver forests, trees are harvested according to responsible policies;
- The trees are cut into planks and assessed for quality;
- The selected planks are processed into chair parts and transported by boat to the Netherlands;
- The parts are packed in boxes. The packages are fitted with the necessary fasteners. We use stainless steel fasteners to match the quality of the chairs.
Characteristics of red cedar
A characteristic of red cedar wood is that it greys over time. That is, under the influence of sunlight and the weather, the colour of the wood becomes greyer. Fans of red cedar like this. Red cedar is a special type of wood. It is lightweight, yet extremely strong. For wooden garden furniture, it is a very fine material. Thanks to its minimal weight, you can easily move the chairs around. The characteristic smell of red cedar repels insects and the naturally present essential oils protect the wood from rot. The Comfy Chair design
Comfy Chair’s wooden garden furniture are adirondack chairs. This classic garden furniture style dates back to the early 20th century and is known for its comfort and rounded design. Comfy Chair furniture has the characteristic adirondack slats and is authentic. Yet Comfy Chairs are distinguished from other adirondack chairs by a number of extra comfortable modifications. For instance, the seat is deeper than average, making the chairs comfortable even for tall people. Also, the armrests are extra wide and the design of the chair is ergonomic.
Maintaining the furniture
If you take good care of your wooden Comfy Chairs, they can last a very long time. You won’t be very busy; the wood can take quite a bit. For instance, you can leave the chairs outside in winter without any problems. Over time, the wood can become roughened by rain and wind. You can then carefully polish the chairs with a light sandpaper. Green deposits can also be removed relatively easily after winter. The assembly
Wooden Comfy Chair furniture is available in three assembly types:
1. Kit
You will receive a cardboard box delivered by parcel service. Inside the box are all the parts and fasteners needed for the furniture. With the help of a clear manual and video, you can assemble the furniture yourself. It does take some time and effort, but anyone can do it!
2. Partially Assembled
Prefer to get things done a bit quicker? Then you can also order the Comfy Chair furniture partially assembled. For a small additional charge, the furniture will arrive mostly assembled. You’ll only need to connect a few parts. It’s a piece of cake!
3. Fully Assembled
If you’d rather leave the power tools in the cupboard, you can also order the furniture fully assembled. However, shipping costs are higher in this case, as a fully assembled piece is too large for parcel delivery. If you’d like your furniture fully assembled, you can request this from our Customer Service. We’ll then arrange the shipping costs with you.
